Thinking of opening a business in Reus? You could receive up to €20,000 in grant funding

05-11-2026

Starting a business requires a significant investment, particularly during the first few months. To support new entrepreneurs, Reus City Council has launched a grant scheme as part of the Reus Espais Vius project, aimed at encouraging new business openings and revitalising specific commercial areas of the city.

The grant can cover up to 50% of eligible investment costs, with a maximum of €20,000 per project. To qualify, applicants must make a minimum eligible investment of €4,000 and develop a business with a genuine commitment to creating social, economic and environmental impact.

The scheme is aimed at newly established businesses and entrepreneurs looking to open a new business in premises located within the areas covered by the programme. These include Carrer dels Recs, Carrer de Santa Teresa, Carrer de Sant Elies, Carrer de Boule, Carrer de la Lleona, Carrer Gras i Elies and Galeries Quer. Certain sections of Carrer de Sant Joan (numbers 13–23) and Carrer de Prat de la Riba (numbers 13–18) have also been added.

An important point to consider is that simply opening a new shop is not enough: projects must demonstrate a positive contribution in three areas. Social impact includes aspects such as equal opportunities, hiring people from priority groups and working with responsible suppliers. Environmental impact covers measures such as energy efficiency, waste reduction and the use of sustainable materials. Economic impact includes supporting local suppliers, technological innovation and the circular economy. To meet the assessment criteria, applicants must achieve at least three indicators in each of these three areas.

The grant is intended to support genuinely new business activities, rather than businesses simply relocating to another premises. The date on which the business licence application or prior activity notification was submitted must also fall between 1 November 2024 and the closing date of the call.

Applications can be submitted until 15 November 2026. The initiative aims to bring vacant premises back into use, attract new business projects and create more vibrant, sustainable commercial streets.
